Enclosure, upon its completion, was the record which represented
the achievement of all the musical goals I had been aiming at for
the previous 5 years.It was recorded simultaneously with Black
Knights “Medieval Chamber”, and as different as the two albums
appear to be, they represent one investigative creative thought
process, and what I learned from one feeded into the other.
Enclosure, though it is for me now a year old, is still presently
my last word on the musical statement which began with PBX, and I
have since moved on to other things.

Release.:

A promotional EP released in July 2003 through Lava Records. It was first released
during Porcupine Tree’s North American tour with Opeth, of July and August 2003.

“Strip the Soul (edit)” is a shortened version of the song of the same name from In
Absentia. The short piece “Collapse” was originally intended to open the In Absentia
album. “Orchidia” had been previously released in the 7″ vinyl edition of the Four
Chords That Made a Million single as a demo, this is instead a 2003 version with
proper mastering and mixing. “Futile” was previously available on the DVD-A version
of In Absentia. “Drown With Me” was a bonus track of the European edition of the
album.

“Interview with Steven Wilson” is an interview done with Joe Del Tufo in May 2003.
“Hatesong (live)” was recorded in Philadelphia on 26 July 2002. “Blackest Eyes
(live)” was performed live on XM Radio.

“Death Whispered A Lullaby” isn’t a Porcupine Tree song, but rather, is taken from
Opeth’s Damnation album. It was co-written and produced by Steven Wilson.

Release.:

It has been compared to Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here because of their similar
structure; both albums have extended pieces at the beginning and end, which are the
halves of a single song.

The Sky Moves Sideways was the first Porcupine Tree album to be released in the US,
and the first on which Porcupine Tree was actually a band rather than simply a
pseudonym for Steven Wilson. This transition took place while the album was being
recorded, so two of the tracks – namely “The Moon Touches Your Shoulder” and
“Dislocated Day” – are performed entirely by Wilson, while the full band appears on
the remainder of the album (including “Stars Die”, a UK single which was added to the
US version of the album).

It is the band’s second session for XM Satellite Radio and was recorded on 21 July
2003. Unlike its predecessor, XM, XMII contains mostly tracks from the Lightbulb Sun
album. The album was issued on the band’s own Transmission label and sold only at
shows and through Porcupine Tree’s online store, Burning Shed. An interesting feature
of the album is the song Fadeaway sung by guest guitarist John Wesley.
